Jalen Brunson Accepted Roman Reigns’ WWE Invite in 3 Words and MSG Is Ready

Jalen Brunson is coming to Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Knicks captain made that clear with a three-word reply to Roman Reigns on X: “See you there.”

It started when Reigns posted a public invite for Brunson, calling him “The King of New York” and mentioning Madison Square Garden by name. Reigns wants the whole world to “acknowledge” them at the July 18, 2026 show. Brunson responded with a pointing finger emoji, which in WWE-speak means he’s acknowledging the Tribal Chief.

So what’s Brunson actually doing at the show? Don’t expect him to step in the ring. He’s coming off recent surgery and WWE reportedly just wants him there as a presence. There’s talk of a backstage segment where Brunson might cross paths with Danhausen, the indie star who famously “lifted” his curse on the Knicks. That curse lift turned into a 13-game playoff win streak, so there’s history there.

Brunson and the Knicks are riding high

This invite comes a month after Brunson led New York to its first NBA title in 53 years. He picked up Finals MVP honors and closed out the Spurs with a 45-point game in Game 5. So yeah, the guy is a champion walking into a building full of champions. Roman Reigns gets that. He’s a champion too, obviously.

Reigns isn’t currently booked for Saturday Night’s Main Event, but that could change. The card already includes CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and a singles match between Danhausen and JD McDonagh. If Reigns shows up, MSG might actually buckle under the weight of star power.

Brunson isn’t new to WWE chaos. Back in 2024 he had a run-in with Tyrese Haliburton during a Friday Night SmackDown taping at the Garden. Nobody knew it then but that little moment was basically a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals a year later. Full circle stuff.

For now Brunson is just confirming he’ll be there. No word on whether he’ll grab a mic or just watch from the crowd. Either way, the Garden crowd will lose it when he shows up on camera. That building loves him. And it loves wrestling. This is one of those nights where those two worlds just smash together.
