Sophie Cunningham had a weekend most athletes only dream about. One night she’s working as a ring girl at UFC 329 inside T-Mobile Arena. The next afternoon she’s back in a Fever jersey, draining threes like she never left.

The Indiana guard went viral Saturday when she appeared in the Octagon for Dana White’s promotion. It was a surprise side gig that nobody saw coming. But Cunningham didn’t let the distraction slow her down. She showed up Sunday in Las Vegas and torched the Aces for 20 points, hitting six of seven from deep in Indiana’s 109-75 blowout win. That’s the kind of focus that gets noticed.

Dana White came to courtside

White returned the favor. He sat courtside for the Fever-Aces game, watching Cunningham work from just a few feet away. After the win, the two greeted each other, and the moment was caught on video shared by Yahoo Sports. White was all smiles.

Cunningham and White have been showing mutual respect since the UFC event. But not everyone was thrilled to see the friendship playing out in public.

Fans were quick to bring up White’s 2023 incident in a Mexico nightclub, where he was caught on camera slapping his wife. He later apologized. He wasn’t punished. But the memory hasn’t faded, and people online had plenty to say.

“Didn’t he slap his wife in public?” one user asked.

“Dana is smitten. Maybe he won’t slap her like he slaps his wife,” another wrote.

Others were more direct. “Attaching yourself to Dana White is certainly a choice,” one fan said. Another admitted their opinion of Cunningham has shifted: “I used to like her, but the more I get to know her, the less I like her.”

Cunningham hasn’t addressed the criticism publicly. She’s been busy helping the Fever improve to 14-9, winning four of their last five. The team is finding a groove, and Cunningham’s shooting — 85.7 percent from three against the Aces — is a big reason why.

White’s appearance at the game felt like a victory lap for Cunningham’s viral weekend. But it also put her in the middle of a conversation she probably wasn’t looking for. For now, she’s letting her game do the talking. It’s doing plenty.
