Robbie Williams Isn’t Just Sponsoring Port Vale — He’s Funding the Club’s Future

Robbie Williams is about to make his hometown football club a lot more visible — and not just because he sells out arenas worldwide. The 52-year-old pop star has signed on to become Port Vale’s primary shirt sponsor for the next two seasons, a deal that goes far beyond branding.

The League Two side announced Tuesday that Williams’ iconic ‘RW’ logo will appear on both home and away kits for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 campaigns. But the partnership doesn’t stop at the jersey. Williams will also serve as an ambassador for the Port Vale Foundation, the club’s charitable arm, as it rolls out a new three-year initiative called ‘One Vale.’

Williams, who grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and has been a Port Vale supporter since childhood, said the arrangement feels deeply personal.

“It feels pretty incredible, to be honest – Robbie Williams, on the front of a Port Vale shirt. It’s a match made in heaven for me,” he said in a statement. “I started going to the Vale when it was 50p for a junior supporter to get in. It takes a village to raise a child, and the Railway Paddock at Vale Park raised me.”

This isn’t Williams’ first foray into the club’s orbit. He performed a concert at Vale Park in 2022, and his affection for the Valiants has been well-documented over the years. But this partnership marks a more formal commitment — one that club officials believe can transform the organization’s reach.

Port Vale CEO Matt Hancock didn’t mince words about what the deal means.

“This partnership means a huge amount to us here at the football club, and we are absolutely delighted to be working alongside Robbie,” Hancock said. “He is not only a global superstar, but also a genuine supporter of the club with a deep and personal connection to our town. It’s that authenticity which makes this so powerful.”

The ‘One Vale’ strategy, which the sponsorship will help fund, focuses on health, education, inclusion, and opportunity projects across Stoke-on-Trent. According to the club, the goal is to use Port Vale as “a force for good” — leveraging Williams’ global platform to create local impact.

“From the very first conversations, it was clear this was about Robbie’s lifelong love for Port Vale and making a tangible difference to people’s lives,” Hancock added. “The support and exposure the partnership will give to the club and foundation will help us reach more people, create more opportunities and continue using the club as a force for good.”

For Williams, who rose to fame with Take That before building a massive solo career with hits like ‘Angels’ and ‘Rock DJ,’ this deal is as much about giving back as it is about nostalgia. The singer has often spoken about how his upbringing in Stoke shaped him, and this partnership allows him to repay a community that helped raise him.

Port Vale currently sits in England’s fourth tier, but the infusion of Williams’ star power — and likely, his financial backing — could help change that trajectory. The club has not disclosed the financial terms of the sponsorship, but the exposure alone is a major win for a team that rarely commands national headlines.

For now, fans can look forward to seeing Williams’ signature on their kits starting next season. And if the pop star’s enthusiasm is any indication, he’ll be watching from the stands as much as the boardroom.
