Newcastle Lands Bundesliga Speedster Bazoumana Touré for $55 Million in Sudden Deal

Newcastle United has pulled off a surprise move that nobody saw coming at the start of the summer window. The club has agreed to sign TSG Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Touré for a fee north of $55 million (around €50 million), according to multiple reports from Sky’s Florian Plettenberg and The Telegraph.

The deal came together fast. Like, really fast. Touré only joined Hoffenheim last summer after leaving Swedish club Hammarby, and before that he was playing in Ivory Coast for ASEC Mimosas back in 2024. The 21-year-old Ivorian has been tearing up the Bundesliga with his pace and direct wing play, and apparently Newcastle decided they didn’t want to wait around.

This is a classic Newcastle move under the current ownership — identify a young, high-upside player early and pounce before bigger clubs get involved. Touré fits the profile: explosive, raw but talented, and still a few years from his prime. The Magpies are betting he develops quickly in the Premier League.

Woltemade reunion incoming

Here’s where it gets interesting. Touré will link back up with Nick Woltemade, the German forward Newcastle bought from Hoffenheim last summer for a hefty $82 million (€75 million). Woltemade has settled in well on Tyneside, and now he’s getting a familiar face in the attack. The two played together at Hoffenheim for just one season, but they developed solid chemistry in the final third.

Newcastle’s front line suddenly looks deeper and faster. With Alexander Isak leading the line and now Touré on the wing, Eddie Howe has another weapon to stretch Premier League defenses. Touré can play either flank and has the kind of acceleration that turns 50-50 balls into goal chances.

The deal still needs medicals and paperwork, but the clubs have reportedly agreed on the fee. Hoffenheim is losing a key player but making a huge profit on someone they only had for a year. That’s smart business on their end too.

Touré is expected to fly to England in the next 48 hours. Newcastle fans are already buzzing about what this means for next season’s push up the table.
