Milan Eyes Mazraoui as Amorim Push Runs Into Manchester United Wall

AC Milan is trying to find a way to bring Noussair Mazraoui to Serie A, but the move is currently stuck in neutral. Manchester United hasn’t given any indication it’s ready to let the Moroccan international go, and that’s creating a real problem for the Rossoneri.

Here’s the backstory. Milan is getting close to selling Pervis Estupinan to Aston Villa. That deal is reportedly in an advanced stage, even if nothing is signed yet. Once it goes through, Milan will need a left back. And the name at the top of their list is Mazraoui, a guy who can play both sides of the defense.

Ruben Amorim, the Milan manager, worked with Mazraoui at Manchester United and was impressed by his versatility. He wants a reunion. The Athletic and other outlets have noted that connection before, and it makes sense on paper.

But here’s the catch. According to journalist Daniele Longo, United hasn’t opened the door to a sale. Mazraoui’s contract runs through 2028. He’s viewed as a reliable squad player under Michael Carrick, who took over as manager. And financially, he’s earning more at Old Trafford than Milan would likely offer.

The player himself hasn’t pushed for an exit either. There have been some indications he’s open to the idea, but that’s different from demanding a move. Without that push, United has no real incentive to sell.

Milan needs this resolved sooner rather than later. If Estupinan leaves and they haven’t secured a replacement, they’re thin at fullback heading into the season. Mazraoui fits the profile, but the gap between interest and action is wide.

For now, this is a waiting game. Milan needs either United to soften its stance or Mazraoui to make some noise. Neither thing has happened yet. And unless one of those shifts, this transfer stays in the “complex” category — which is just a polite way of saying it probably isn’t happening.
