Mike Trout’s Son Beckham Already Has a Bold Take on Being Better Than Dad

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is hours away and Mike Trout is set to lead off for the American League. But the biggest buzz of the day might actually belong to his 4-year-old son.

Beckham Trout was asked a simple question: “Are you going to be better than your dad?” The kid didn’t blink. He answered with a loud, confident “YES!” The clip, posted by MLB on social media, has already gone viral. It shows Beckham sitting next to his dad, grinning and yelling his answer twice. It’s the kind of moment that makes you smile even if you’re not an Angels fan.

Trout’s Legacy vs. His Son’s Confidence

Mike Trout has three MVP awards, 11 All-Star nods, and more than a decade of being one of the most feared hitters in baseball. He’s 34 now, which in baseball years means the back half of a Hall of Fame career is underway. He’s still playing at an elite level, but realistically, there aren’t many All-Star Games left for him. Father Time is undefeated, even against generational talents.

But Beckham doesn’t care about any of that. He’s setting the bar at “better than the best of his generation.” That’s either adorable or terrifying, depending on how you look at it. For Angels fans, it’s probably a little of both. They’re watching their franchise legend age out while his kid is already talking smack from the dugout.

Whether Beckham ever reaches the majors is a long shot. Whether he actually becomes better than his dad? That’s almost unfair to ask. But the kid has the right attitude. If you’re going to dream, aim higher than anyone thinks is possible.

Trout will take the field tonight at 8:00 ET on FOX. His son will be watching. And somewhere in the stands or the family suite, Beckham is probably already practicing his swing.
