Man United Has a Shot at Karim Adeyemi and Dortmund Is Ready to Deal

Manchester United might have just caught a break in their search for a forward. Reports out of Germany indicate Borussia Dortmund is prepared to sell Karim Adeyemi this summer, and the asking price is reasonable. That puts United in a spot where they could land a 24-year-old attacker with serious pace and flexibility without breaking the bank.

Adeyemi is entering the final year of his contract at Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund typically doesn’t let valuable assets run down their deals, and they’ve been trying to get him to sign an extension. But those talks have stalled. According to Fussballdaten, Dortmund’s management won’t bump his salary from €6.5 million to the €10 million he’s asking for, nor will they agree to the high release clauses he wants. So the board made a call: Adeyemi is at the top of their sell list.

The club is reportedly willing to accept offers around €40 million, which works out to roughly £34 million. That’s not nothing, but for a player with Adeyemi’s skillset, it looks like a value play. He can play on the left wing or as a striker, which directly lines up with what United needs. His one-v-one dribbling and raw speed are the kind of traits that cause chaos in the Premier League.

Why this makes sense for United

United has been linked with multiple forwards this window. Crysencio Summerville is another name floating around, but he’d cost around £50 million. Adeyemi comes in at a lower price and offers similar positional versatility. If wage demands aren’t a problem, this is a deal worth fast-tracking.

Dortmund isn’t in a position to play hardball. They either sell now or risk losing Adeyemi for free next summer. That pressure gives United leverage. The question is whether they move quickly enough to beat out other interested clubs. English sides are paying attention, and Adeyemi’s age and potential make him an attractive option for more than just United.

What happens next

Nothing is official yet. United has kept an eye on the situation, but no deal is close. The next few weeks will tell if they’re serious about pulling the trigger. If they don’t, expect Dortmund to shop him elsewhere. Either way, one of the more intriguing bargains of the summer window just became available.
