Julie Ertz’s Dress Got Stuck in Customs Before Taylor Swift’s Wedding and She Had 24 Hours to Fix It

Julie Ertz showed up to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in a black dress. But that was not the plan. Not even close.

The former USWNT star revealed on her podcast Style of Play that her original dress never even made it to New York. It was sitting in customs somewhere while she was scrambling to find something else hours before the ceremony.

“My dress is still in customs somewhere,” Ertz said. “So trying to find a dress in 24 hours, let alone it being in New York, seemed insane.”

She called it a blast overall. But the stress was real. Finding a last-minute dress in Manhattan is not exactly a casual errand, especially when you have maybe a day to pull it off. She managed to lock something down, but the whole thing apparently rattled her more than she expected.

Zach Ertz had his own wardrobe issue

The NFL tight end could not figure out how to tie his tie. Julie mentioned that most of the guys at the wedding were wearing clip-ons, so nobody around could really help him out. It was a small thing, but it added to the chaos.

The wedding itself was held at Madison Square Garden on July 3, 2026. The couple rented out the whole arena. The rehearsal dinner the night before was at the Infosys Theater inside the Garden. Guests included Patrick Mahomes and Paul McCartney, which gives you some idea of the guest list range.

Julie Ertz played for the U.S. women’s national team from 2013 to 2023 and spent time with the Chicago Red Stars and Angel City FC. Zach Ertz most recently played for the Washington Commanders in 2024 and 2025. He spent the bulk of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, winning a Super Bowl there, before stops in Arizona and Washington.

As for that dress, it is still floating around in customs somewhere. Julie did not say whether it ever showed up after the wedding. She just seemed relieved she found one in time.
