Bayern Munich Eyes Vinicius Jr. as Real Madrid Contract Talks Stall

Bayern Munich might be shopping for a Brazilian star this summer. According to reports out of Europe, the German club is keeping a close eye on Vinicius Junior’s situation at Real Madrid, where contract negotiations have hit a snag.

The Brazilian winger’s current deal runs through 2027, but an extension isn’t coming easy. Ekrem Konur, a transfer reporter, says Vinicius is asking for a salary that matches Kylian Mbappé’s. Real Madrid isn’t ready to go there yet. Not even close.

President Florentino Pérez is reportedly worried about losing Vinicius on a free transfer down the line. So internally, a sale this summer isn’t off the table anymore. That’s a big shift for a club that usually holds tight to its stars.

But here’s where things get complicated for Bayern. Vinicius’s market value sits around $150 million. That’s a lot of money for a club that just announced its first summer signing — Ismael Saibari — and doesn’t usually drop that kind of cash on one player. The math doesn’t really work unless something changes in Munich’s approach.

Meanwhile, there’s been chatter linking Real Madrid to Bayern’s Michael Olise. Some outlets even floated the idea of a swap deal. But Bayern president Herbert Hainer shut that down fast.

“I’ve said this before: If Real President Florentino Pérez had that in mind, he can save himself the trouble, because we don’t want to sell Michael,” Hainer said.

So you’ve got two clubs eyeing each other’s talent, but neither side seems ready to blink. Vinicius’s future in Madrid feels less certain than it did six months ago, but a move to Bayern still looks like a long shot. The club has other priorities and the price tag is steep.

For now, this is a story about a contract dispute in Madrid and a Bayern team that’s doing its due diligence. Nothing more. But if those salary demands stay firm and Pérez gets nervous about losing another star for nothing, things could get interesting fast.
