Arsenal is prepared to throw a record-breaking contract at Vinicius Jr. That’s the word from London this morning, and it’s got the summer transfer window feeling like it’s about to pop off in a big way. The Gunners want the Real Madrid star badly enough to make him the highest-paid player in club history, according to multiple reports. Whether that’s enough to pry him away from Real Madrid is another question entirely.
But Vinicius isn’t the only name on Arsenal’s board. They also got a fresh boost in the chase for Bruno Guimaraes, the Newcastle midfielder who’s been on their radar for months. And they’ve now learned the actual price tag for Lyon’s Bradley Barcola. It’s a lot. Liverpool is also circling Barcola and could be preparing a massive bid of their own. So that one might get messy.
Manchester United is quietly putting pieces together. They’ve already signed Kit Margetson, and personal terms are done with Manu Kone. But the real targets are still Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid. United also has growing interest in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. That’s a wide net, but they need bodies in midfield and up front.
Over at Chelsea, things are a little weird. They’re in what people are calling shock talks with Danny Welbeck. Yes, that Danny Welbeck. He’s 35 now, but apparently the Blues see something there. They’re also readying another bid for Alex Scott after locking down a deal for Maxence Lacroix. Chelsea’s approach this summer has been all over the place, but they keep adding bodies.
Liverpool is also making noise. Beyond Barcola, they’ve been linked to a handful of other attackers. Meanwhile, Yan Diomande is headed to Real Madrid, and Maghnes Akliouche reportedly chose PSG over Premier League offers. That’s two Ligue 1 talents off the board.
Tottenham is in advanced talks for Savinho, the Brazilian winger who impressed at Girona. They’ve also opened negotiations with Inter Milan for Cristian Romero. Yes, the same Romero who already plays for them. It sounds confusing, but apparently there’s a clause or a buyback situation. Spurs are trying to lock him down long-term.
And then there’s Pedro Neto. Chelsea’s winger has drawn surprise interest from both Manchester City and Liverpool. That one came out of nowhere. Neto has been solid at Stamford Bridge, but if City or Liverpool come with a real offer, Chelsea might have a decision to make.
The window is heating up. A lot of these deals could tip in the next week or two. We’ll see who actually pulls the trigger.
