The New York Knicks are headed to the White House, and that means an old tweet from Josh Hart is back in circulation. It’s not exactly the kind of souvenir you want following you around during a victory lap.
On November 7, 2020, Hart posted on X, then Twitter, a very direct reaction to the 2020 presidential election results. He wrote, “YESSIR!!!! GET TRUMP’S DUMBA** OUT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!” At the time, Hart was playing for the New Orleans Pelicans. He’d later spend time with the Portland Trail Blazers before landing in New York in 2022.
That tweet resurfaced and started making the rounds again after Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed on The Carton Show that the team accepted an invitation from the White House. Dolan said the details are still being worked out, but the visit is happening. And he made it clear he’s happy about it.
Dolan described President Donald Trump as a friend, someone he has known for 30 years. He also mentioned that he invited Trump to Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, which the Knicks lost. So the relationship between the owner and the president is clearly solid.

One player, Jose Alvarado, was asked about the trip. He seemed pretty laid back about it. “If there’s a chance, I’m going wherever my teammate goes,” he said. So it sounds like he’s on board. But what about Hart?
The Knicks guard hasn’t said anything publicly about the visit yet. His old tweet doesn’t exactly suggest he’s thrilled about the idea of shaking hands with the guy whose “dumba**” he wanted out of the White House four years ago. It’s one of those situations where the internet never forgets, and now Hart has to figure out how he feels about walking into a building he was once very vocal about wanting to see someone leave.
The team hasn’t announced a date for the visit. Given that the Knicks just won the NBA championship, the White House stop is a tradition for title winners. It’s supposed to be a celebration. But for Hart, it might come with a little extra baggage.
It’s not clear if Hart will actually go. Players have skipped White House visits before for political or personal reasons, and nobody makes a big deal out of it unless they make a big deal out of it. But the fact that the tweet is back in circulation means people are watching to see what he does.
