United have officially announced three summer signings so far — Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans — but they still haven’t addressed their biggest hole on the wing. The question is whether Roma can actually afford Summerville’s wages. He’s not cheap, and Serie A clubs don’t always have the same financial runway as Premier League teams. But the fact that he’s being courted at all should be a warning sign for United.

This wouldn’t be the first time United dragged their feet and lost out on a West Ham player. They already whiffed on Mateus Fernandes earlier this window. Fans remember that, and they won’t love seeing it happen again.
