£130 Million Price Tag Has Arsenal Leading the Morgan Rogers Chase, but Man United and Liverpool Are Waiting

Morgan Rogers is the name driving conversations across the Premier League this summer. The 22-year-old forward has become the center of a transfer battle that involves three of England’s biggest clubs, and Aston Villa has set a number that makes everyone pause.

Villa wants more than £130 million for Rogers. That’s not just a random figure. They’re pointing directly at Elliot Anderson’s €135 million move to Manchester City as the benchmark. And with Financial Fair Play and Premier League profit-sustainability rules breathing down their necks, Villa might eventually have to sell — even if they’d rather keep him.

Arsenal is the frontrunner here, according to sources who’ve spoken to CaughtOffside. But it’s not simple. Villa is trying to hold the line on keeping both Rogers and Ezri Konsa this window, and Arsenal’s interest in Konsa has made things messier. You can’t just walk into Villa Park and grab two starters without some serious pushback.

What Rogers brings to the table

Rogers put up 14 goals and 12 assists last season. That’s the kind of production that gets teams to consider spending nine figures. He’s fast, he can create chances for himself and others, and he’s shown he can handle the physical side of the Premier League. For a team like Arsenal that just won the league but came up short in the Champions League final against PSG, adding a player like Rogers could be the difference next season.

The other suitors aren’t backing off

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all still in the picture. None of them have made a formal bid yet, but they’re watching how Arsenal’s negotiations play out. If the Gunners can’t get Villa to budge on the price, any of those three could step in with an offer that changes the dynamic.

Rogers is said to be open to joining Arsenal. That matters. But being open to a move and actually making it happen are two different things when the asking price is that high. Arsenal is expected to submit an official bid in the coming days, but nobody knows yet if they’ll come close to what Villa wants.

The interesting part is that Villa hasn’t ruled out selling entirely. They just don’t want to lose both Rogers and Konsa in the same window. That could mean Arsenal has to pick one or the other, or come back with an offer so good that Villa can’t say no.

Rogers has all the tools to become a top-tier forward. He’s still young, he’s already producing at a high level, and he’s shown he can adapt to different systems. If Arsenal gets this done, it changes their attack entirely. If they don’t, someone else will almost certainly step in.
