WNBA Star DiJonai Carrington Accuses Ex NaLyssa Smith of Cheating With Multiple Players

What started as one of the WNBA’s most talked-about relationships has turned into a messy public breakup — and now cheating allegations are making headlines.

DiJonai Carrington took to Threads on Sunday and claimed her ex-girlfriend NaLyssa Smith cheated with multiple WNBA stars. Carrington specifically named Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye in her post. Neither Kelly nor Nye has responded publicly as of now.

Smith didn’t stay quiet for long. She hopped on Twitch to push back, basically saying it doesn’t matter whether she cheated or not because they broke up last year anyway. She also questioned why Carrington was bringing this up now since the Sky guard is supposedly in a “healthy relationship” with someone else. Rumors have been swirling that Carrington is dating Smith’s Aces teammate Jackie Young, but neither has confirmed anything.

A love story that started at Baylor

Smith and Carrington were teammates at Baylor for the 2020-2021 season. They helped the Bears reach the Elite Eight that year. Their coach Kim Mulkey apparently had suspicions early on. Carrington said on Angel Reese’s podcast in 2025 that Mulkey called her into the office and straight-up asked if she and Smith were “an item.” Carrington denied it at the time.

The couple eventually went public after entering the WNBA Draft. Carrington went 20th overall to the Sun in 2021. Smith went second overall to the Fever in 2022. They found themselves teammates again briefly in 2025 with the Wings before Smith got traded to the Aces in June.

Fans loved watching them show up to games together. Carrington was there when the Aces won the 2025 championship, posing with the trophy alongside Smith.

The breakup and fallout

The split went down in December 2025. Carrington had already signaled things were over by saying she was “very much so single” on social media the month before. She later told reporters they were “good” but had just “grown in different directions.”
