Vinicius Jr’s $600k-Weekly Demand Could Force Real Madrid’s Hand This Summer

Real Madrid have a problem. And it involves a 25-year-old Brazilian who just can’t stop scoring.

Vinicius Junior wants a raise — a big one — and the club isn’t sure they want to pay it. According to reports out of Spain, the winger is asking for a weekly salary closer to £500,000 (roughly $640,000) per week. Madrid’s current offer sits around £400,000. That gap isn’t small, and it’s starting to feel like it might be irreversible.

Here’s the thing. Vinicius still has two years left on his deal, which runs through 2027. But Real Madrid have made it clear: either he signs an extension now, or they’ll look to move him this summer rather than let him walk for free later. That’s just how they operate.

The Mbappe problem nobody wants to admit

Publicly, Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe say all the right things. They’re teammates. They respect each other. They can play together. But the on-field reality has been more complicated. Both guys are used to being the main character. Both want the ball at their feet. And defensively? Neither one is exactly sprinting back to help out when possession flips.

That’s not a knock on their talent. They’re both world-class. But having two alpha dogs who don’t complement each other naturally can make a team worse, not better. And Madrid’s front office sees it.

Who’s lining up for Vinicius?

Manchester United are paying close attention. So are Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Bayern Munich reportedly admire him too. PSG have been mentioned but they’re busy chasing RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande instead.

There’s also the Saudi Pro League. They’ve got an open-ended offer on the table that could double his current wages. But Vinicius is said to want to stay at the highest level — Champions League caliber teams only.

United might be the most aggressive suitor so far. Reports say they’ve considered a bid around £103 million, which would be a club record. That’s a lot. But when you’re looking at arguably the best left winger in the world, you don’t cheap out.

What happens next

Negotiations have stalled while Brazil was at the World Cup. Now that they’re out, talks are expected to resume. But unless one side budges significantly, this thing could get messy fast.

Real Madrid have sold big names before. They’d do it again. And if Vinicius hits the market, it’s going to be a feeding frenzy.
