Three Premier League Clubs Eye Juventus Midfielder Thuram as Transfer Window Heats Up

Khephren Thuram might be leaving Italy sooner than expected. The Juventus midfielder has drawn interest from at least three Premier League clubs, according to reports out of Italy this week.

Sunderland, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have all made initial inquiries about the 25-year-old Frenchman, per Calcio Mercato. His situation in Turin remains unsettled, and that uncertainty has opened the door for potential suitors across Europe.

The Premier League Interest Is Real But Complicated

Sunderland is the most intriguing name here. They’re coming off a surprising season that earned them a spot in the Europa League for the first time, and they haven’t made a single signing yet this summer. Their director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, has been pretty clear about wanting stability rather than another massive roster overhaul. But Thuram would be a statement signing, the kind that says they’re not just happy to be in Europe.

Newcastle has the money and the ambition, obviously. They’ve been linked with midfielders all summer and Thuram fits the profile — young enough to develop, experienced enough to contribute now. Forest is in the mix too, and they just pocketed a huge fee from Elliot Anderson’s move, so they’ve got cash to burn.

The Competition Goes Beyond England

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on him as well, though neither has made a formal approach. Paris Saint-Germain is lurking, and Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also named as interested parties. So it’s not going to be a straightforward race.

Thuram came to Juventus expecting to be a central piece of their rebuild. But the coaching situation in Turin and the club’s financial constraints have created some uncertainty around his role. That’s why these Premier League clubs think there’s an opening.

Sunderland specifically got a boost this week with Granit Xhaka apparently staying despite Chelsea sniffing around. If they can keep their core together and add a guy like Thuram, they’d be looking at a seriously competitive squad for next season. But any deal probably depends on how things shake out at Juve first. No one’s rushing to sell, and Thuram isn’t pushing for a move publicly. For now, it’s a waiting game.
