Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Put Watermarks on Wedding Invites to Stop Leaks

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce aren’t messing around when it comes to keeping their wedding weekend private. According to a report from TMZ, the couple is using individually watermarked invitations that include each guest’s full name repeated throughout the design. If a photo of an invite hits social media or a gossip site, they can trace it straight back to whoever posted it.

The invitations reportedly went out in early spring, with most arriving around April. They also skip the exact venue. Instead of naming Madison Square Garden — where the couple has reportedly filed permits to close surrounding streets from July 2 through midday on July 4 — the invites only list “New York City” as the location along with a July 3 celebration date.

This level of secrecy makes sense when you look at the scale of the thing. TMZ previously reported that between 1,100 and 1,200 people are expected to attend, which would make it one of the larger celebrity weddings in recent memory. You don’t invite that many people and just hope nobody talks. You build in safeguards.

The guest list and entertainment lineup fit the occasion

Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw have been rumored as performers, with Paul McCartney’s name also floating around as a potential addition. Nothing is confirmed yet, but those names would match the kind of event that requires street closures and watermarked paper goods.

It’s worth noting that TMZ has been the primary source on most of these details, and the couple’s camp hasn’t officially commented. But the permits filed with New York City are public record, so the street closures at least are real. The rest is a mix of reporting and reasonable speculation about how you keep a wedding of this size under wraps.

Really, the watermarks are the most telling detail here. It’s one thing to ask guests not to post. It’s another thing entirely to set it up so you can catch them if they do. That’s a couple that values control over optics, and they’re willing to spend the money and effort to maintain it.
