Sophie Cunningham had a week that would push anyone to the brink. The Indiana Fever guard lost a close game to the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night. And earlier that same week, police arrested a man accused of stalking her for months. Her coping mechanism? Not cigarettes. Cinnamon rolls.
“I feel like, if I were a smoker, tonight would be the night where I would smoke a whole pack, but I am not, so I’m going to eat a couple of cinnamon rolls,” Cunningham said on her Instagram Story Thursday. She added, “I already ate four of them today, might as well finish them off.” She captioned the video: “A lil somethin to take the edge off.”
The Fever lost 111-109 in a game that had more drama than a single box score can hold. Cunningham got into it with Phoenix forward DeWanna Bonner on the court. Her teammate Caitlin Clark was involved in a separate incident when Mercury star Alyssa Thomas appeared to put her fist into Clark’s throat after a foul call on a three-point attempt. The league suspended Thomas for one game.
Then there’s the stalker situation. Kevin Singh faces felony charges for stalking and intimidation plus a misdemeanor harassment charge, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged on Tuesday. The alleged behavior went on for months. Back in April, Singh reportedly sent Cunningham explicit messages on X. Her team sent a cease-and-desist letter on April 30. Then in September 2025, Singh allegedly mailed a Guns N’ Roses T-shirt sprayed with men’s cologne and a letter addressed to “Sophie” at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever’s home arena.
Singh pleaded guilty to two felony counts of invasion of privacy in July 2025 and is currently on probation in Hendricks County, Indiana.
“The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass and intimidate others. Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement. “Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person’s position or public profile. The victim is setting an example by speaking out.”
Cunningham hasn’t said much publicly beyond the cinnamon roll post. But the message is pretty clear. She’s holding up. Barely. And for now, the bakery aisle is doing the heavy lifting.
