Seattle Kraken Lock In Logan Morrison After His Best Pro Season Yet

The Seattle Kraken made a quiet bet on a guy who’s been tearing it up in the minors. On Thursday, the team announced they re-signed center Logan Morrison to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. It’s a $850,000 cap hit at the NHL level. If he ends up back in the AHL, he’ll pocket $280,000.

Morrison, 23, just finished the best year of his young career with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle’s affiliate in the American Hockey League. The kid from Guelph, Ontario led the Firebirds in scoring during the 2025-26 regular season — 29 goals, 32 assists, 61 points in 68 games. That’s a career high for him professionally.

His playoff run was solid too

Morrison kept it going in the postseason, putting up a goal and five assists over 12 games. One of those helpers came in a multi-point night during the Firebirds’ series-clinching win against Bakersfield back on April 26. He’s not just a regular-season guy.

Since joining the Firebirds, Morrison has been a consistent offensive presence. Across 204 AHL games, he’s piled up 59 goals and 85 assists for 144 points. In 36 playoff appearances, he’s added two goals and 17 assists. That’s the kind of depth scoring that gets you noticed.

From undrafted to NHL debut

The Kraken signed Morrison as an undrafted free agent back in 2023, after he dominated the Ontario Hockey League. He put up a 100-point season in 60 games during 2021-22, then followed it with 94 points in 56 games the next year. That earned him an entry-level deal.

He made his NHL debut with Seattle in the 2023-24 season, playing four games. He didn’t register a point. The Kraken called him up again late in March 2026, but he didn’t get into a game. So those four appearances remain his only NHL action so far.

Morrison is a right-shot center. That’s a valuable commodity in the league. He’ll be waiver-eligible for the first time this fall. If he clears and heads back to the AHL, expect him to keep being a key piece for Coachella Valley while he waits for another shot with the big club.
