Sabrina Carpenter showed up at the World Cup on Wednesday, and the internet noticed pretty much immediately. Not just because she’s a Grammy winner with 27 million Instagram followers. But because she was basically sitting in the stratosphere.
A clip going around social media shows the 27-year-old singer peering through binoculars from what looks like the absolute top row of New York New Jersey Stadium. She was there with someone else — hard to tell who, given the altitude — trying to follow the action as Germany took on Ecuador.
And honestly? It worked for her. She caught one of the better games of the tournament so far.
Ecuador Pulled Off the Upset
Germany came in riding high after two dominant wins to open group play. Ecuador had lost both of theirs and looked like they were packing up early. But the third match flipped everything. Ecuador won 2-1, and it wasn’t really that close in the second half.
Manager Sebastián Beccacece didn’t just celebrate on the sideline. After the final whistle, he climbed into the stands where his family was sitting and went straight into a group hug. The guy was going through the rows like it was nothing. Security just let it happen. That’s the kind of win this was.
Carpenter was up there somewhere, probably watching through those binoculars. Good call on her part.
The Stadium Hosts the Final
New York New Jersey Stadium is also where the World Cup final will be played on July 19, 2026. That’s still about a month away. Plenty of soccer left, and plenty of teams that could still make a run. Germany will have to regroup. Ecuador might be the team nobody wants to draw now.
Carpenter is clearly enjoying her soccer fan era. She’s been showing up at matches, posting about it, just being a normal person in the stands. Well, a normal person with binoculars and a personal driver. But still.
The clip is still making the rounds. Some people are making jokes about her seat. Others are just impressed she came out at all. Either way, she saw a good game. And she saw it about 200 rows up.
