Neco Williams Has Three Premier League Suitors. Here’s Why Tottenham Just Joined the Race.

Tottenham just made things interesting in the Neco Williams sweepstakes. The club has entered the conversation for the Nottingham Forest full-back, joining Manchester United and Newcastle United in what’s shaping up to be a legit three-way battle.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs have been monitoring Williams for a while and are now ready to test the waters. That’s not nothing. A 25-year-old who just won Forest’s Player of the Season by a fan vote? That’s a guy with momentum.

Why Williams Makes Sense for Spurs

The biggest selling point here is versatility. Williams can play right-back, left-back, or wing-back. That’s not just depth — it’s tactical flexibility. If Ange Postecoglou wants to switch formations mid-match or rotate for a Thursday-Sunday grind, Williams gives him options without needing to reshuffle the whole squad.

He’s also Premier League proven. No adjustment period, no wondering if he’ll adapt to the pace. Williams has 150+ top-flight appearances and has looked sharp on both sides of the ball. His energy and durability are the kind of things coaches value more than flashy stats.

Forest fans will tell you he was one of the few consistent bright spots last season. The club’s official website praised his reliability, and that kind of endorsement from a side that fought hard all year carries weight.

The Catch: Forest Doesn’t Need to Sell

Here’s the problem for Tottenham — and for United and Newcastle, honestly. Williams signed a new deal in July 2025 that runs through 2029. That gives Forest all the leverage. They can ask for a strong fee, or they can just hang up the phone.

Nottingham Forest isn’t in a position where they have to cash in. They’re not desperate. And when three big clubs come sniffing around one of your best players, you don’t exactly drop the price.

So Spurs will have to decide how badly they want him. Williams would improve the squad, sure. But is he worth getting into a bidding war for a guy who might not walk into the starting XI? That’s the question.

Tottenham should probably send a fair offer, see what happens, and move on quickly if Forest’s asking price gets crazy. He’s a smart addition at the right number. Anything north of that, and you’re overpaying for a rotation piece.

For now, it’s a waiting game. Williams is under contract, happy at Forest, and has three clubs circling. Something’s gotta give. It just might take a while.
