AC Milan’s summer just got a lot more complicated, and a whole lot more interesting. The Rossoneri are reportedly ready to make a formal offer for 18-year-old forward Kerim Alajbegovic, and the timing makes a lot of sense.
Christian Pulisic went down with a bone bruise during the 2026 World Cup, and he’s facing months on the sideline. That’s a brutal blow for a team that’s already got Rafael Leao flirting with a move to Tottenham and a bunch of other elite clubs. So yeah, Milan needs help on the wings.
New manager Ruben Amorim, fresh off his stint at Manchester United, is clearly not wasting any time reshaping the attack. According to Calciomercato, Alajbegovic has become a concrete target. The kid checks a lot of boxes for Amorim, who likes versatile forwards with high ceilings and resale value built in.
Who Is Kerim Alajbegovic Anyway?
He’s not a household name yet, but the scouting community knows him well. Alajbegovic came through Bayer Leverkusen’s youth academy, then moved to Red Bull Salzburg in 2025 to get first-team minutes. That move worked out. He had a strong season in Austria, and now he’s back at Leverkusen. Leverkusen didn’t bring him back to play him though. They brought him back to sell him.
He’s an 18-year-old winger with pace, good instincts in the box, and that kind of raw talent that makes clubs think they’re getting the next big thing before everyone else figures it out. That’s exactly the type of gamble a club like Milan takes when they’re trying to reload on the fly.
The Money Question
Here’s where it gets sticky. Milan is reportedly willing to go as high as €30 million for Alajbegovic. That’s a solid offer for a teenager with one good season in Austria. But Leverkusen is asking for around €40 million. That’s a gap, and not a small one.
Milan has some leverage though. Alajbegovic is back at Leverkusen but he’s not really part of their plans. They want to move him. If no one else steps up with the full €40 million, Milan’s offer might start looking pretty good. But if another club jumps in — and there are always other clubs when a young winger with upside becomes available — then Milan either has to get closer to that asking price or move on.
Amorim also has Samuel Chukwueze in the rotation, and the team is willing to give him another shot. So it’s not like the cupboards are bare. But Chukwueze hasn’t exactly seized his chances, and that’s part of why they’re looking at Alajbegovic in the first place.
If Milan can bridge the gap, they’d be getting a player with serious resale potential and the kind of raw ability that fits a rebuild. If they can’t, they’ll likely pivot elsewhere. Either way, this is a name to watch as the summer transfer window heats up.
