Manchester United’s midfield rebuild is turning into a mess. They needed a Casemiro replacement, which everybody knew was coming. So far, the only body through the door is Ederson from Atalanta, a guy the Brazilian legend himself basically handpicked. And even then, Ederson is seen more as a depth piece than an answer. The real fix hasn’t arrived yet.
According to reports, United already blew three chases completely. Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes — all of them went elsewhere. Manchester City and Spurs stepped in and just outmuscled them. Now the front office is knocking on Bournemouth’s door, looking at Alex Scott and Tyler Adams as backup options. And fans are not thrilled.
The Kid From Lille Who Might Actually Cost Too Much
Enter Ayyoub Bouaddi. He’s 18, plays for Lille, and just put on a show in the States that turned heads at Old Trafford. Journalist Ben Jacobs says United have muscled their way to the top of the line for him. But there’s a catch, and it’s a big one.
Lille wants about £86 million for an immediate transfer. Or you can pay £64 million if you’re willing to loan him back for a season. That’s a lot of cash for a teenager, especially one who’s never played in the Premier League.
City is reportedly okay with the loan-back idea. United, though, needs help right now. They don’t have a year to wait. But after refusing to pay £85 million for Fernandes, it’s hard to see INEOS suddenly loosening the purse strings for Bouaddi at nearly the same price.
The Moroccan kid is talented. He’s shown he can handle the physical stuff despite being young. But money talks, and United’s midfield hole isn’t getting any smaller while the suits do math.
