Man United’s Striker Wishlist for Next Season Includes a Shocking Name That Changes the Math

Manchester United is not done adding firepower up front. Even after spending big on Benjamin Šeško last summer, the club has drawn up a five-man shortlist of attacking targets for the next window. And one of the names on that list might surprise you.

According to sources in the agents industry who spoke to CaughtOffside, Victor Osimhen is viewed as the dream signing. That much is obvious. He is explosive, proven in Serie A and on the European stage, and would instantly give United a different kind of threat alongside Šeško. But the price tag is massive. Osimhen would cost a fortune in transfer fees and wages, making him the most exciting option on paper and the hardest to actually pull off.

Because of that, United’s recruitment team is looking at alternatives that make more financial sense. Jean-Philippe Mateta is one. He knows the Premier League, brings physicality and reliability, and would not demand a starring role. He is not flashy, but he is the kind of signing a club makes when it wants depth without drama.

Dusan Vlahovic is another name floating around. His situation at Juventus is uncertain, and he has the size, finishing instincts, and experience to offer something different than what United already has. He could rotate with Šeško or start if needed.

Then there’s Eli Junior Kroupi, a young forward who fits United’s recent pattern of buying high-potential players early. He would not be expected to contribute right away. He is a long-term play, a bet on development rather than an immediate fix.

And then there’s Robert Lewandowski. Yes, that Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been mentioned as a possible short-term option, according to talkSPORT. At his age, he is not a long-term answer. But the idea is that his experience could help Šeško grow, and he could still produce goals in a more limited role. It’s the kind of move that feels old-school, but it has a logic to it.

United’s striker search is not about panic buying. It is about squad balance. They already have their main guy in Šeško. What they need is someone who can push him, stay ready when he rests, and make the attack more dangerous as a whole. The right profile matters more than the biggest name.

The club has not confirmed any of these targets, and the list could change. But it tells you something that United is already looking this hard at strikers a full year after spending big on one.
