Liverpool Moves Ahead of Man United and Aston Villa for Bundesliga’s Next Breakout Star

Liverpool have positioned themselves as the frontrunners to sign Ivorian winger Bazoumana Toure, leapfrogging Premier League rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa in the race for the 20-year-old, according to reports from TEAMtalk.

Toure, who joined TSG Hoffenheim at the start of 2025, has quickly become one of the Bundesliga’s most talked-about young talents. Last season, the 20-year-old racked up five goals and 12 assists in 30 league appearances, cementing his reputation as a dynamic, two-way threat on either flank. His combination of blistering pace, creative vision, and finishing ability has made him a priority target for several top English clubs.

The Ivorian is valued at roughly €40–50 million — a fee that should not be an obstacle for any of the interested parties, all three of whom are set to feature in the Champions League next season.

Why Liverpool Needs Him Now

The timing of Liverpool’s interest is no coincidence. With Mohamed Salah’s departure leaving a hole on the right wing, the Reds are desperate for reinforcements out wide. Toure could slot in on the right to replace Salah or be deployed on the left, freeing up Cody Gakpo to shift into a more central attacking role. Sources close to the club suggest Liverpool sees Toure as a cornerstone piece for their long-term rebuild under new leadership.

Liverpool’s struggles in wide areas last season have not gone unnoticed. The club’s attacking output lagged behind rivals, and the front office is reportedly determined to inject pace and creativity into the final third. Toure fits that profile perfectly — he’s equally comfortable cutting inside from the left or hugging the touchline on the right, and his assist numbers suggest he can unlock defenses in multiple ways.

Manchester United and Aston Villa Watching Closely

Manchester United have also shown serious interest, hoping to add competition for their current wing options. The Red Devils are looking to deepen their squad as they return to Europe’s elite competition, but they have yet to make a formal move that matches Liverpool’s perceived urgency.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, see Toure as a potential long-term replacement for Jadon Sancho, who is not expected to stay beyond his loan spell. Villa’s project under Unai Emery has attracted young talent before, and Toure’s agent has reportedly held preliminary talks with the Midlands club. But with Liverpool now setting the pace, Villa may need to act quickly to avoid missing out on one of the Bundesliga’s brightest prospects.

No deal is finalized yet, and Hoffenheim have not commented publicly on any offers. But with three Premier League clubs circling and a summer window still open, Toure’s next move could reshape the attacking balance of an entire league.
