Liverpool have revived their pursuit of Khéphren Thuram. The 25-year-old Juventus midfielder was a target back when Jürgen Klopp was still running things at Anfield, but that deal never came together. Now, with the summer window opening, the Reds are back in the mix — and they’re not alone.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest have expressed serious interest in the French international. Juventus, for their part, are increasingly open to selling. The club needs to balance its books, and Thuram is one of the more movable assets on the roster.

Why Thuram makes sense for multiple Premier League clubs

Thuram is a box-to-box midfielder with real physical presence — 6-foot-2, comfortable on the ball, and capable of carrying it through pressure. He spent four seasons at OGC Nice before moving to Juventus in 2024. In Turin, he’s shown flashes but hasn’t fully locked down a starting spot. That inconsistency, combined with Juventus’s financial situation, is why he could be available.

Liverpool’s midfield has been rebuilt over the last two years, but Arne Slot’s system still values players who can cover ground and win duels. Thuram fits that profile. Manchester United, meanwhile, is still searching for stability in the middle of the park. And Nottingham Forest? They’re not just lurking anymore — they’re spending like a club that believes it belongs in the top half of the table.

The competition is real

This isn’t a one-horse race. United has the brand and the budget. Forest has the ambition and a manager who likes aggressive midfielders. Liverpool has the recent track record of developing players under Klopp’s successor. None of these clubs have made a formal offer yet, but the scouting work is done and conversations are happening.

Thuram himself hasn’t said anything publicly about wanting out. But when a club like Juventus is willing to listen to offers, the player usually gets the message. A move this summer feels more likely than not.

One thing worth watching: Thuram’s contract runs through 2028, so Juventus isn’t desperate. They can hold out for a fee north of €40 million. That might slow things down, but it won’t stop them entirely. If two or three Premier League clubs get into a bidding war, the price could climb fast.
