Lewandowski Is Heading to MLS. Chicago Just Landed a Legend.

Robert Lewandowski is trading Camp Nou for Soldier Field. The Polish striker, who hung around the free agent market longer than most expected, has signed with the Chicago Fire in a move that changes the entire conversation around MLS this summer.

Lewandowski turns 38 this season. But he’s not showing up for a farewell tour. He left Barcelona with 120 goals in 192 appearances. That’s not a guy who forgot where the goal is. Chicago has one of the biggest Polish communities outside of Poland, and now they get the country’s all-time leading scorer to call their own. The fit is real, not just a marketing play.

AC Milan Spent Big. Really Big.

AC Milan just dropped €74 million on Goncalo Ramos from PSG. That’s a club record. The Portuguese striker never fully locked down minutes in Paris, but PSG still managed to cash in. Milan’s new coach Ruben Amorim, also Portuguese, is betting his compatriot can be the focal point a sleeping giant needs. It’s a lot of pressure on a guy who wasn’t first choice in France.

Vedat Muriqi Goes Back to Where It Worked

Only Kylian Mbappe scored more than Vedat Muriqi in La Liga last season. That’s a wild sentence to type, but it’s true. Muriqi dropped 23 league goals for a Mallorca team that got relegated. He nearly won the Pichichi. Now he’s back at Fenerbahce for €15 million. He scored 15 league goals there in 2019/20. The reunion makes sense.

Fenerbahce also picked up Nathan Ake from Manchester City for £8.5 million. Six seasons at City, 12 trophies. He leaves the Etihad as a winner. And Fenerbahce gets a versatile defender who can play anywhere across the backline.

Inter Brings Back a Name You Know

Aleksandar Stankovic never made a senior appearance for Inter. He left for Club Brugge last summer. Now he’s back after Inter triggered a €23 million buy-back clause. Yes, he’s the son of Dejan Stankovic, the Inter legend. The 20-year-old midfielder gets a second chance at the club his dad helped define.

City Football Group Keeps Doing City Football Group Things

Mathys Detourbet moved from Troyes to Manchester City for €25 million. He’s 19. He’ll spend next season on loan at Monaco. Classic City Group move. Buy young, slot them somewhere in the network, see what happens.

Alejandro Grimaldo is back in Spain. Atletico Madrid paid Leverkusen £20 million for the left-back. Grimaldo was a monster for Leverkusen during that unbeaten Bundesliga title run in 2023/24. He put up 75 goals and assists in 175 games from wing-back. Those numbers are hard to ignore.
