LeBron’s Response to Jaylen Brown’s Bronny Comments Could Shift the 76ers’ Entire Offseason

The Philadelphia 76ers just landed Jaylen Brown in a massive trade, sending Paul George and multiple picks to Boston. And now the question everyone wants answered: Would LeBron James actually play with the guy who seemed to trash his son on national TV?

That’s the $64 million question floating around the NBA right now. But according to a report from Action News on 6abc, LeBron has already moved past whatever happened between Brown and Bronny James two summers ago. The source said James “has no issues” with Brown and the two have “somewhat cleared the air publicly.”

Let’s back up. In 2023, during Summer League, cameras caught what looked like Brown making some critical remarks about Bronny’s game. The internet ran with it, obviously. But Brown later clarified he respects Bronny and the whole thing got downplayed by both sides. Still, it stuck around as a minor talking point. Until now.

Dumas, the reporter, said directly that LeBron has “moved on” from it. And with Philly trying to sell James on a roster built around Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and now Brown — that’s a big deal.

The 76ers made their move

Philadelphia didn’t waste any time after trading for Brown. The Athletic’s Tony Jones reported the team reached out to James right after the trade, basically saying, “Hey, we’re serious about winning now.” James is officially a free agent after telling the Lakers he’s done in LA. This isn’t a rumor anymore — he’s moving on.

So can the 76ers actually make this work financially? That’s a whole other problem. They’ve got Embiid’s massive deal, Maxey’s extension is coming, and Brown just signed a supermax. Adding LeBron at this point in his career would require some serious cap gymnastics. And they’re not the only team interested. Cleveland, Golden State, Miami — a bunch of teams are lining up to pitch him.

But this clears up one potential roadblock. If LeBron wasn’t cool with Brown because of the Bronny thing, that could’ve killed the whole idea before it started. Now at least that’s off the table.

Whether he ends up in Philly or somewhere else, it’s worth noting that Brown’s comments didn’t just disappear into the ether. They actually mattered for a minute. But now it sounds like LeBron is focused on winning, not old summer league drama.
