Juventus Midfielder Khephren Thuram Has Premier League Suitors Lining Up. That Includes Sunderland.

Khephren Thuram might be the most interesting midfielder on the market you haven’t heard much about yet. The 25-year-old French international currently plays for Juventus, but his future in Turin is far from settled. And according to Calcio Mercato, at least three Premier League clubs have already made inquiries.

Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest are all in the mix. That’s a pretty wide range of ambition right there — from a team preparing for its first Europa League campaign to a club just cashing a massive check.

Forest Just Got Paid. Sunderland Hasn’t Spent Yet.

Nottingham Forest is fresh off receiving $115 million for Elliot Anderson. That gives them serious flexibility if they want to make a push for Thuram. Sunderland, on the other hand, hasn’t made a single signing this summer. They’re heading into European competition for the first time in forever, and the clock is ticking.

But here’s the thing about Sunderland. Their director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, has been pretty clear about the plan. He pointed to Athletic Bilbao as a model. Said they don’t want to turn over half the squad every summer. Last month he basically told everyone they’d focus on continuity this window, not chaos.

That doesn’t mean they won’t add anyone. It just means they’re not going to panic-buy. And if they do go after Thuram, they know they’re wading into a crowded pool.

Other Big Names Circling

Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Thuram for a while now. So have Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Paris Saint-Germain. That’s a lot of competition for a player who isn’t even guaranteed to leave Juventus yet.

The whole thing depends on what Juve wants. If they’re willing to sell, the price tag will matter. If they’re not, none of this goes anywhere. But the fact that multiple Premier League teams have already made contact suggests the chatter is real.

Sunderland at least got some good news recently. Granit Xhaka, their veteran midfielder, looks likely to stay despite interest from Chelsea. That stabilizes the middle of the park. But adding someone like Thuram would be a different kind of statement — the kind that says they’re not just happy to be in Europe.

For now, it’s a waiting game. Juventus holds the cards. And a handful of English clubs are holding the phone.
