The Buffalo Bills finally have their new home buttoned up. Terry Pegula cut the ribbon on the new Highmark Stadium on Tuesday, and the team let fans peek inside the locker room. It’s sleek. It’s modern. It’s very much designed to make a statement.

The locker room footage the Bills posted shows a high-tech setup with individual charging stations, custom lighting, and the kind of clean design that screams “this is where a franchise QB gets ready.” That’s the idea. Josh Allen is 30 years old now and coming off another monster season. The front office has made it clear: they’re building around him, and the new stadium is part of that pitch.

What Makes the Building Different

The new stadium isn’t just a reskinned version of the old one. It’s open-air but with a roof canopy that covers about 64 percent of the seats, per ESPN. That’s a serious upgrade for January games in western New York. The team also moved the first row on one sideline 54 feet closer to the field than before. So fans will be right on top of the action. Literally closer than they’ve ever been.

Outside the stadium, there are three bison statues that will light up for the home opener. It’s a small detail but it’s the kind of thing that makes a place feel like home.

The First Game Is Already Set

The Bills open the new building on Sept. 17 against the Lions. That’s a Thursday night game. National TV. Full house. Detroit is no pushover anymore, so it’s not a warmup game. It’s a test right out of the gate.

Buffalo enters 2026 with the usual Super Bowl aspirations. That part hasn’t changed. But there are new variables this year. Joe Brady is the head coach now, not Sean McDermott. Brady was the offensive coordinator last year and the team trusted him to take the next step. There’s also the DJ Moore factor — the Bills traded for him this offseason, and the hope is he becomes the No. 1 receiver Stefon Diggs was before things went sideways.

CBS Sports already has Buffalo winning the Super Bowl in their early prediction. Tyler Sullivan wrote that Brady will have the Bills playing to their talent level and that Allen remains the best quarterback in the league. That’s high praise and maybe a little premature, but it’s not out of nowhere.

Still, there are questions. The AFC East isn’t a given anymore. The Jets have a quarterback now. The Dolphins still have speed everywhere. And the Bills have a first-time head coach trying to win a ring before Allen’s window closes. No pressure.

The ribbon is cut. The locker room is ready. Now they just have to play the games.
