For a week, rumors floated that United might circle back. Maybe on different terms. Maybe later in the window. Fabrizio Romano shut that down on Thursday. Ederson signed a new deal with Atalanta that runs through 2031. The Italian club showed faith. He’s staying.
Romano posted: “BREAKING: Éderson signs new deal at Atalanta until June 2031. Confirms stories on Man United revisiting deal later this summer were not true; as the deal collapsed exactly one week ago. Atalanta show trust in Éderson and open new cycle with him staying.”
Ederson’s old contract was up in 2027. That’s why United thought they could get him on the cheap. Now any Premier League team that wants him will have to pay a lot more. Atalanta locked him in. They aren’t selling for pennies.
United moved on. They’re looking at Eduardo Camavinga now. Also Carlos Baleba. And some cheaper options like Nicolas Raskin and Sander Berge. The list is long. The summer isn’t.
As for Ederson, he’s still in Serie A. He’s still a starter. And he just got a contract that says Atalanta sees him as part of the future, not a guy who almost left.
