Ederson Says Man United Move Is ‘Practically All Sorted’ as He Eyes Post-World Cup Transfer

Ederson just confirmed what most of the soccer world already suspected. The Atalanta midfielder told Sky Sport in an interview that his transfer to Manchester United is basically a done deal. His exact words? “It’s practically almost all sorted.”

The 26-year-old Brazilian is currently on World Cup duty with the Seleção. And he made it clear he’s trying to keep his head in the tournament, not get distracted by what’s waiting for him back in Europe.

“I have to make the most of this moment,” he said, via TuttoSport. “I am here and it is a wonderful thing, something you must always live to the fullest.”

His minutes in the World Cup have been limited so far. He came off the bench in the opener against Morocco and got some run in the win over Haiti. But that hasn’t slowed down the business side of things.

The Deal in the Numbers

Manchester United will pay around €45 million to Atalanta for Ederson. That’s a massive profit for the Bergamo club, who bought him from Salernitana for way less a few years ago.

Ederson has been one of Serie A’s best midfielders over his four seasons at Atalanta. Not flashy in the way some Brazilian midfielders are, but effective. He’s physical, reads the game well, and can play box-to-box. United is getting a guy in his prime, no question.

When Does This Get Official?

Nothing gets signed until Brazil’s World Cup run ends. That’s the plan. Ederson wants to focus on the tournament, and United is fine waiting. Both sides know the deal is done in principle. It’s just a matter of putting pen to paper when the time is right.

For Atalanta, this is another win in the transfer market. They find talent, develop it, sell high. For United, it’s a statement signing. They’re adding a proven midfielder from a top European league who can step in and play right away. No adaptation period needed.

Ederson is the kind of signing that doesn’t make huge headlines but quietly improves a team’s spine. United’s midfield has needed that kind of stability for a while. This might be it.
