Chicago Bulls Land Caleb Wilson at No. 4 and His Game Fits Exactly What They’re Building

The Chicago Bulls walked into the 2026 NBA Draft with a clear plan and a little bit of luck. They had the No. 4 pick and they knew who they wanted. And when the first three names came off the board, they got their guy.

Caleb Wilson is now a Bull. The North Carolina forward went fourth overall Tuesday night, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. Wilson spent one season in Chapel Hill and put up 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Those numbers alone tell you he’s a problem. But the Bulls front office sees something bigger in how he moves and how he fits.

The team’s new VP of Basketball Operations, Bryson Graham, has this philosophy he calls SLAP. It stands for Size, Length, Athleticism and Physicality. And Wilson checks every box. He’s 6-foot-9 with a wingspan that swallows passing lanes. He runs the floor like a wing but bangs inside like a big. That’s exactly the kind of player Graham wants to build around.

The Bulls also held the No. 15 pick in this draft, so they’re not done reshaping the roster. But Wilson is the headliner. He’s the kind of talent you don’t get at No. 4 very often. Some scouts called him a generational prospect before the draft, and Chicago didn’t hesitate when he was still available.

What Wilson Brings to the Table

Wilson averaged nearly 20 points in his only college season, but that undersells his real value. He shot efficiently from mid-range and finished through contact. He also grabbed offensive rebounds like it was a reflex. On defense, he can guard multiple positions. The Bulls have needed that kind of versatility for years.

Chicago has been in this weird middle ground for a while. Not bad enough to get a top pick, not good enough to matter in the playoffs. Drafting Wilson at No. 4 signals something different. They’re committing to a real rebuild. Graham’s SLAP philosophy isn’t just a catchy acronym. It’s a clear identity. Wilson is the first major piece of that identity.

There’s no guarantee any draft pick works out. But the Bulls identified their guy and got him. That’s a win on draft night. Now the hard part starts — putting the right players around him and letting the development play out. Chicago fans have waited a long time for a plan that makes sense. Wilson might be the reason it finally does.
