Carlos Baleba’s Agents Reached Out to Man United. Here’s What They’re Asking.

Carlos Baleba still wants to play for Manchester United. His agents have made that clear in recent days, reaching out to the club to see if there’s a way to restart talks that fell apart last summer.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the contact on his YouTube channel, saying the people around Baleba have been in touch with United to gauge interest. The midfielder was their top target a year ago. He had personal terms agreed, then everything stalled when Brighton slapped a $100 million price tag on him. United backed off, and Baleba’s form took a hit for a few months.

That dip has a silver lining for United. The 22-year-old’s asking price has dropped to around $70 million, according to reports. Brighton isn’t in a selling mood generally, but they’re not in the same leverage position they were 12 months ago.

Why Baleba is back in the conversation

United has already spent $85 million combined on Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer. They’re not done. Manager Michael Carrick wants a third midfielder, someone who can help them control games, and the front office is looking hard at defensive options.

But Baleba isn’t the only name on the list. United is also considering Roma’s Manu Kone, Fulham’s Sander Berge, and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga. Kone seems to be the one where talks have moved the furthest so far.

There’s also the Camavinga-Tchouameni situation at Madrid. Carrick would love to bring in Aurelien Tchouameni, but he’s expected to sign a new deal. That makes Camavinga a more realistic target, though Kone looks like the most active negotiation right now.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott is on United’s radar too

United has big interest in Alex Scott. But Bournemouth is digging in, determined to keep him for at least another year. That one feels like a longer shot unless a big offer changes things.
