Real Madrid has a type. The club likes players who look like they belong on a poster, who sell shirts and score goals with a little swagger. Michael Olise fits that description perfectly. The French winger has been tearing it up for Bayern Munich, and word out of Spain is that Real Madrid is ready to put together a monster offer to bring him to the Bernabeu. But Bayern isn’t sitting still.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the German club is preparing to hand Olise a new contract that runs through 2031, pushing his current deal from 2029 out another two years. The real kicker is the money. Bayern is reportedly willing to pay Olise around €25 million per year. That would put him in the same salary tier as the club’s absolute top earners. It’s a clear message: we’re not letting this guy go.

Real Madrid was already floating numbers in the €220 million range for a potential transfer. That’s Galactico money, the kind of fee you only see for players who could genuinely change the direction of a club. Florentino Perez has a history of chasing those kinds of players. Olise, with his left foot, his ability to create in tight spaces, and his calmness in front of goal, looks like the real deal. He’s the kind of attacker modern Madrid fans dream about.

But here’s the thing. Bayern has Olise and Harry Kane as their two cornerstone stars. They’re not in the business of selling both. And with Kane locked in, Olise has become the guy they’re protecting at all costs. The renewal plan is aggressive. It’s designed to make a move almost impossible, at least this summer.

Does Real Madrid actually have a shot?

That’s the question nobody has a clean answer to yet. On paper, Madrid has the money. They’ve been saving up for a big splash, and Olise is exactly the kind of splash they want. He’s 24, he’s proven in the Champions League, and he’s got that star quality that fills seats and sells jerseys.

But money alone won’t do it. Bayern has to decide they’re willing to sell. Olise has to decide he wants to leave. And Madrid has to decide whether dropping €220 million plus a massive salary on one attacker is smart roster building or just a flex they can’t afford to make when other positions need depth.

For now, the renewal talks in Munich are the loudest noise in this story. If Olise signs the new deal, that’s probably it. The saga ends. Madrid moves on to other targets. But if there’s any hesitation from the player, any sense that he wants to test himself in Spain, then all bets are off.

Keep an eye on this one. It’s the kind of transfer that could define a summer. Or it could fizzle out before August even starts.
