Angel Reese Says She Wants to Be a Dream ‘Forever’ After Finding a Home in Atlanta

Angel Reese didn’t hold back when asked about her future with the Atlanta Dream. Before a recent game against the Chicago Sky, the forward made it clear where she wants to be. Forever, actually.

“This organization is showing so much support,” Reese said. “I was thinking about this morning, like, I just want to be a Dream forever because of the support that they’ve shown me from the fan base to my teammates and my coaches.”

That kind of loyalty doesn’t come cheap in the WNBA. And for Reese, it’s personal. She acknowledged that she hasn’t always had that kind of backing in her career. The Dream traded for her in the offseason, and so far, the move looks like a steal.

A Locker Room That Lets Her Breathe

Reese opened up about how much that support has changed her game. She’s notoriously hard on herself, something she doesn’t hide. But in Atlanta, she said the culture in the locker room lets her drop some of that weight.

“I’m so hard on myself. I also try to take everything in on me at once and just try to swallow it by myself,” Reese said. “Being able to have sisters in the locker room that are always open to listen, and they’re open to understanding who I am as a person, also as a basketball player, and it really helps me on the court.”

The result? She’s playing freer than she ever has. Reese said the coaches and teammates have taken pressure off her shoulders, letting her just go out there and have fun. That’s rare for a player who often carries the weight of expectations everywhere she goes.

What This Means for the Dream

Atlanta has struggled through the first half of the season. But Reese has been a bright spot, and the organization knows it. They traded for her for a reason, and they’re going to do whatever it takes to keep her around long-term.

Reese said the environment has given her a sense of peace. “You can play with a sense of peace and protecting your peace and just going out there and just having fun because that’s what it’s all about.” That’s not just nice talk.
