Manchester United just announced Andrey Santos as their first summer signing. Karl Darlow and Youri Tielemans are next. But the real action this week might be about who leaves Old Trafford, not who arrives.

Michael Carrick wants a midfield overhaul and more options out wide and up front. INEOS knows they need to sell before they can keep spending. Rasmus Hojlund is the only notable departure so far, and while moving Casemiro and Jadon Sancho off the payroll helps, the books still need balancing.

Marcus Rashford is expected to go despite Carrick offering him a way back in. And now Noussair Mazraoui could be next out the door.

Milan Making the First Move

AC Milan has made the Moroccan international a priority for their right-back spot this summer, according to Africa Foot. The report says discussions between the two clubs should heat up in the coming days. Former United boss Ruben Amorim wants a reunion, which adds an extra layer to this story.

Milan sees Mazraoui’s experience in the Champions League and Premier League as a major asset. And they’re not wrong. The 28-year-old was excellent at the World Cup, and United fans appreciate his versatility. He can play right-back, left-back, and even slip into midfield when needed.

But here’s the thing. United hasn’t decided what to do yet.

The Problem With Selling

If you look at Carrick’s squad right now, Diogo Dalot is the only natural right-back. Luke Shaw doesn’t have a real backup either. Mazraoui can cover both spots. That kind of flexibility isn’t easy to replace.

If United does let him go, it probably means they have a plan to bring in Julian Ryerson from Borussia Dortmund. But that’s speculation at this point. What’s clear is that United shouldn’t sell cheap. Mazraoui’s market value sits around £15 million, and Milan will have to at least match that to get a deal done.

The next few days should tell us a lot about where this is headed. United has to decide whether the money is worth losing a player who can slot into three different positions without missing a beat. That’s not the kind of depth you just give away.
