The bouquet toss at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding wasn’t just a photo op. Someone actually caught it, and she happens to be connected to another Chiefs star.
Ashley Smith, the sister of Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones, posted about the moment on Instagram after the ceremony at Madison Square Garden on July 3. She said she came down with Swift’s bouquet and made it sound like she’s ready for what comes next.
“Celebrated an Enchanting Love S(T&T)ory,” she wrote. “And somehow…I ended up catching Tay Tay’s bouquet. So here’s to believing it’s bringing a lifetime of love, luck, and laughter my way.”
If tradition holds, that means Smith is next in line for a wedding. The Chiefs might have another celebration to plan sooner than later. (No pressure, Chris.)
The wedding itself was a massive event at the iconic New York arena. Kelce’s teammates including Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid were there. It was a full-circle moment for a couple that went public in 2023 and got engaged in August 2025.

The timing is interesting for Kelce’s career
Kelce just wrapped up his 13th NFL season and decided to come back for a 14th. That wasn’t automatic. After the Chiefs went 6-11 in 2025 and missed the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era, Kelce openly considered walking away. He admitted retirement was on the table.
But he came back. And now he’s married to Taylor Swift. Life moves fast.
The Chiefs are hoping to bounce back in 2026. Mahomes tore his ACL in December 2025 and is expected to return at some point during the season. Nobody knows exactly when, but the vibe around the team is that they’re not treating 2026 as a throwaway year.
Kelce has three Super Bowl rings, 11 Pro Bowl selections and seven All-Pro nods. He doesn’t have much left to prove on paper. But the competitive drive is still there. That’s what brought him back.
And now he’s got a wedding behind him, a Super Bowl chase ahead of him, and a bouquet winner in the family orbit. If the Chiefs turn things around this season, people are going to talk about that bouquet toss for years.
