A Bills Legend Thinks This Rookie Corner Could Be a Camp Star

Steve Tasker has seen a lot of football. So when the former Bills All-Pro points to a rookie as someone to watch, it’s worth paying attention.

Tasker recently named Davison Igbinosu as the player he’s most excited to see in training camp. The Ohio State alum was Buffalo’s second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and Tasker thinks he’s got starter potential.

“That guy’s got a chance to be really good,” Tasker said on Bills by the Number. “I think he’s got a chance to start as an NFL corner.”

That’s high praise for a rookie. But it also comes with some context. Host Chris Brown pointed out that the Bills haven’t practiced in pads yet this summer, and Igbinosun’s game really comes alive when he can get physical. That’s the part of his skill set that pops — the hand-fighting, the press coverage, the willingness to hit.

What Igbinosun Brings to Buffalo

He’s 6-2, 189 pounds, which is good size for an outside corner. He projects right now as a decent backup with the upside to grow into a CB2 role for Buffalo. The Bills needed depth behind Maxwell Hairston and Christian Benford on the boundary, so the fit makes sense on paper.

But there are real concerns. Igbinosun’s recovery speed isn’t where it needs to be for an NFL starter, and his ball-tracking in the air can be inconsistent. He also racked up 30 penalties in college. That number is hard to ignore. In the NFL, refs don’t get more forgiving.

Still, the Bills aren’t asking him to be the guy on Day 1. They need someone who can develop, compete, and maybe push for meaningful snaps by the middle of the season. If Igbinosun cleans up the mistakes and leans into that physical style, he could carve out a real role.

Camp Opens Soon

Rookies report on July 21. Veterans show up a week later. The first full team practice is July 29 at St. John Fisher University. That’s where Igbinosun will start making his case — and where Tasker will be watching closely.
