Manchester United’s £130m Midfield Overhaul Takes Shape as Ederson Confirms Move Nearly Done

The summer transfer window is moving fast, and Manchester United is at the center of it. Midfielder Ederson has all but confirmed his move from Atalanta to Old Trafford is just about finalized. Speaking to Tuttosport after Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti, he said, “It’s practically almost all sorted.” The deal includes a fixed fee of €40.5 million (£34.9 million) plus €4.5 million in potential bonuses, with a four-year contract and an option for another year. But United isn’t stopping there.

The club is also chasing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali as part of a broader plan to stack the midfield. Reports suggest the total spend could hit £130 million across these moves. However, Tottenham is making a play for Tonali too. Spurs reportedly made an £80 million offer for the Newcastle midfielder, but the Magpies turned it down, holding out for at least £100 million.

Arsenal’s busy summer continues

Arsenal is working on multiple fronts. The Gunners have reportedly approved a move for PSG’s Bradley Barcola, with an opening bid of €80 million (£69.3 million) being considered. The French winger has two years left on his contract, and PSG is open to selling. Meanwhile, reports claim Arsenal could land Morgan Rogers for a fee lower than the £100 million figure that was originally floated. That deal is not done yet, but it’s progressing.

Chelsea needs a left-back after selling Cucurella

With Marc Cucurella sold to Real Madrid, Chelsea’s top priority is finding a left-back. The club is linked with both Lewis Hall and Andrea Cambiaso. Some reports even suggest an agreement is already in place for one of those targets. Chelsea’s summer is still taking shape, but the back line needs attention fast.

Liverpool ready to spend big on Yan Diomande

Liverpool is signaling it’s willing to drop £85 million on RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande. The midfielder impressed at the World Cup, and the Reds see him as a long-term piece. They are also monitoring Felix Nmecha, who is open to leaving Borussia Dortmund. TEAMtalk reports that intermediaries are already testing the market for the 25-year-old German international, with a price tag around £52 million. Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are all on alert.

Manchester City’s domino effect

City’s move for Elliot Anderson could trigger a chain reaction. If that deal goes through, Nottingham Forest is targeting Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi to replace him. Inter, in turn, would go after Liverpool’s Curtis Jones. Meanwhile, City is close to reaching a financial settlement with Chelsea to appoint Enzo Maresca as manager, according to the Guardian.

Bargain alert: Jonathan David could be available for £26 million

Juventus is willing to sell Canadian forward Jonathan David this summer and has set a surprisingly low asking price of just £26 million. David scored a hat trick in Canada’s 6-0 win over Qatar at the World Cup, but he managed only eight goals in 46 appearances for Juve this season. Still, at that price, he’s a low-risk option for any team needing a striker or winger.

And one more name to watch: Trabzonspor’s Christ Inao Oulai. The 20-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder impressed against Germany and could be available for as little as £34.6 million, according to ESPN’s Julien Laurens.
