Something is being built inside Madison Square Garden. And if you believe the rumors floating around this week, it involves Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and what looks like a full-blown wedding setup.
On Monday, crew members unloaded trucks carrying large covered equipment outside the iconic New York venue. Some of the crates were labeled “Garden Party 1 (Scenic).” Others had “GP” spray-painted on the side. That alone would be enough to get people talking, but then a separate video showed a massive white staircase being dropped off at the loading dock.
It doesn’t take much to connect the dots from there.
The couple has been linked to a July 3 wedding at MSG for weeks now, and the arrival of what appears to be castle-style staging only adds fuel to the fire. TMZ first reported on the deliveries, and CBS News picked up footage of the trucks rolling in. The whole thing looks like a production — and not just any production, but one that could turn the arena into something closer to a Disney movie set than a basketball court.
Here’s what we know for sure: Swift and Kelce are engaged. The Chiefs tight end proposed earlier this year in his backyard, which he had transformed into a literal garden for the occasion. Swift described the proposal on The Graham Norton Show, giving Kelce a perfect 10 out of 10 for the surprise.
“He really crushed it,” she said. “He was having the whole back garden turned into this. And one of the things he put in there was a wall of hedges that weren’t there before. Inside the hedges was my tour photographer hiding in bushes.”
So a garden theme fits. A castle fits the fairy-tale vibe. MSG fits the grand-scale ambition of two people who are very much used to performing in front of massive crowds.
On Monday, light equipment and black cases full of lighting gear were also spotted being unloaded at the venue, according to photos obtained by TMZ. A large cargo truck sat parked outside while workers moved everything inside.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed the wedding date or location. Nobody from the venue has said anything official either. But the trucks keep showing up. The staircase is real. The castle pieces are real. And a “garden party” inside Madison Square Garden sounds exactly like the kind of thing two people who rehearse in stadiums would plan for their wedding day.
If the rumors are true, the countdown is on. July 3 is just a few days away.
