Victor Oladipo Is Selling Himself to NBA Teams Without an Agent. Here’s His Pitch.

Victor Oladipo hasn’t played an NBA game since April 2023. But he’s not done. Not even close.

The two-time All-Star and former Most Improved Player announced on X this week that he’s a free agent — and he’s handling his own business without an agent. Oladipo posted a raw, direct message to any team that might be listening: he wants to prove he’s still got something left.

“I’m a free agent. I don’t have an agent right now, just me and my family,” Oladipo wrote. “I know I have a lot left, and I genuinely love this game. I’d rather show you I’m ready than spend my time trying to explain why or flood you with analytics to prove it.”

The 31-year-old guard went on to say he’s open to every opportunity and wants to weigh each one carefully. It’s a confident move from a player whose career has been defined by both flashes of brilliance and brutal injury luck.

Oladipo was the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, a class that’s now infamous for its lack of star power. He bounced from Orlando to Oklahoma City before landing with the Pacers, where he truly broke out. In 2017-18, he averaged 23.1 points per game, made his first All-Star team, won Most Improved Player, and looked like a franchise cornerstone.

Then came the quad tendon rupture in 2019. That injury changed everything.

Oladipo ruptured his quad tendon during his second All-Star season, and he never quite got back to that level. Over the next five seasons, he played more than 40 games just once. He suited up for the Heat, the Rockets, and the Thunder, but the old explosion was gone. He last appeared in an NBA game for Miami in the 2023 playoffs, and then — nothing.

But Oladipo hasn’t been sitting around. He played in the G-League last season to stay sharp, and he clearly believes he can still help a team in the right situation.

Here’s the thing: the talent was never the question. When healthy, Oladipo was a two-way menace with elite athleticism and a killer instinct. The issue is whether his body can hold up after everything it’s been through. A team taking a flier on him would be betting on the comeback story — and on Oladipo’s character, which coaches and teammates have consistently praised.

At this point, it’s not about max contracts or even a guaranteed rotation spot. It’s about a chance. Oladipo understands that. His direct pitch to teams — no agent, no filter — is a reminder that he’s willing to bet on himself one more time.

We’ll see if anyone calls.
