Victor Oladipo wants back in the NBA. And he’s not being subtle about it.

The two-time All-Star posted a video on X Thursday that featured him delivering a raw, profanity-laced speech to a group of younger players. The kind of speech that makes you wonder if he’s been saving this energy for a locker room that actually needs it. The caption read simply: “Believing is seeing.”

Oladipo hasn’t played in the NBA since a brief stint with the Miami Heat a few seasons ago. He spent last season with the Wisconsin Herd in the G League, trying to work his way back after a string of devastating injuries that derailed what looked like a surefire All-NBA trajectory. He was electric in Indiana during the 2017-18 season, leading the Pacers to the playoffs and pushing LeBron James and the Cavaliers to seven games. That version of Oladipo was a two-way wrecking ball. But the quadriceps tendon rupture in 2019 changed everything.

A Direct Pitch to NBA Teams

This isn’t just a guy posting workout clips hoping someone notices. Oladipo has been openly campaigning. Earlier this week he wrote on X that he’s open to every opportunity and that teams can reach him directly if they value mentorship and winning. That’s not typical veteran free agent behavior. That’s a man willing to skip the agent middleman and sell himself face to face.

The video feels like an extension of that pitch. It’s not polished. It’s not produced. It’s Oladipo talking to guys half his age about belief and hunger and the kind of work most people talk about but don’t actually do. You can hear the frustration in his voice. But you can also hear the conviction.

The Comeback Math at 34

Father Time is undefeated, and the NBA is notoriously unkind to 34-year-old guards with a history of major leg injuries. But the league has seen stranger resurrections. Oladipo doesn’t need to be the All-Star he was in 2018. He just needs to be a reliable rotation piece who can defend his position and knock down catch-and-shoot threes. If he can give a team 15 solid minutes a night, that’s a win.

The G League tape from last season wasn’t spectacular, but it showed flashes of the old burst. Enough to make a front office wonder if there’s still something there. Enough for a team with a veteran culture and a need for wing depth to take a flyer on a minimum deal.

Oladipo believes he can do it. And after watching that video, it’s hard not to at least root for him to get one more shot.
