Travis Kelce went for a run in New York City on July 1, and the internet immediately connected the dots. Paparazzi photos obtained by TMZ show the back of the three-time Super Bowl champion in a white T-shirt, dark shorts, a white cap and silver-and-black sneakers. Sweat marks were visible through the shirt — it hit nearly 100 degrees in the city that day.
So why does a guy jogging in the heat make headlines? Because it happened one day before a rumored rehearsal dinner for his wedding to Taylor Swift. And that rumored wedding? People are betting it’s at Madison Square Garden.
The couple hasn’t said anything official about the big day. But a bunch of little clues have stacked up over the last few weeks, and together they paint a pretty loud picture.
A Permit Filed, a Venue Reserved
The New York Times reported on June 24 that a permit had been filed for street closures around Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan. The closures are set to run from July 2 through noon on July 4 for an event on July 3. The permit lists capacity between 500 and 999 people and mentions tents outside the venue. Three anonymous sources confirmed the details.
An unnamed city official told the Times flat out: “Madison Square Garden is planning to host the wedding festivities on July 3.”
That’s not the only breadcrumb. Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates have reportedly booked hotel rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square for dates around July 3. If that’s not a wedding block booking, it’s an awfully convenient coincidence.
Cargo Trucks and Garden Party Scenery
Multiple cargo trucks have been spotted arriving at MSG in recent days. Delivery items include pieces of a castle, large lights and boxes marked “Garden Party 1 (Scenic).” Looks like someone is going for a fairy tale meets garden theme. Or as much of a fairy tale as you can pull off in Midtown Manhattan.
Swift was also seen in New York on July 1, photographed with her best friend Gigi Hadid. Video showed the pop star’s SUV near Hadid’s NYC apartment.
So you’ve got Kelce running through the heat, Swift linking up with her crew, hotel rooms booked for teammates and a permit that lines up with July 3. Nobody is confirming anything, but the dots are basically connected at this point.
Whether the wedding actually happens at MSG or it’s all smoke and mirrors remains to be seen. But if you’re a fan of either of them, keep an eye on the Garden around July 3. Something is definitely happening.
