The Raiders Quietly Added a Receiver With Kirk Cousins Chemistry and a Path to WR1

The Las Vegas Raiders spent this offseason like a team that knows the clock is ticking. They rebuilt the quarterback room. They added talent across the roster. And whether it’s Kirk Cousins or someone else under center in Week 1, one receiver stands to benefit more than most.

Jalen Nailor signed with the Raiders in March, and it didn’t make many headlines. That’s partly because Jakobi Meyers was traded last November and partly because the team didn’t go out and sign a big-name replacement. That left a void at receiver, and Nailor walked into a situation where he might actually be the top option. At least for now.

The Athletic’s Sam Warren recently pegged Nailor as a breakout candidate for Las Vegas in 2026. The reasoning is pretty straightforward. Nailor already has established chemistry with Cousins from their time together in Minnesota. He also played under Raiders offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak with the Vikings. That kind of familiarity matters, especially for a team that’s still figuring out its offensive identity.

Nailor’s numbers over the past two seasons won’t blow anyone away. He caught 29 passes for 444 yards and four touchdowns in 2025, nearly identical to his 2024 production. But context matters. In Minnesota, he was always the third option behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Now he’s in a room where the depth chart is wide open.

Chemistry carries over

Cousins and Nailor connected on enough plays in Minnesota that the trust is already there. That’s not nothing for a quarterback entering a new system with a new group of pass catchers. Warren noted that Nailor’s arrival in Vegas brings established rapport with both Cousins and Kubiak, along with no solidified WR1 standing in his way.

Of course, Nailor won’t be the focal point of this offense. Brock Bowers is going to get force-fed targets. Ashton Jeanty will get his touches out of the backfield. But after that? There’s opportunity. And Nailor has shown he can be a reliable option when given chances.

The Raiders haven’t confirmed their starting quarterback for Week 1, and the offseason is still young. But if Cousins is under center, Nailor could be the kind of sneaky pickup that turns into a real contributor. Fall can’t get here fast enough.
