His answer was immediate: Kevin Hart, who was standing nearby, and LeBron James.
“You see that guy right there,” Curry said, pointing at Hart. “That guy right there and LeBron James… I want to have some of that action. Sounds like easy money.”
The exchange happened during a media availability and was shared by ESPN’s Katie Feeney. Curry didn’t specify if he meant a friendly round or something more competitive, but the tone suggested he’s confident in his game.
Curry is pretty well known as a serious golfer. He’s played in PGA Tour events, hosted his own celebrity tournaments, and generally speaks about golf with the same competitive fire he brings to the basketball court. So when he says LeBron James sounds like easy money, it’s not just trash talk. It’s a challenge.
Kevin Hart’s role here is interesting. Hart is a known golf fanatic, regularly posting about his rounds and playing in pro-ams. He’s also funny, obviously, so adding him to the mix would make the whole thing feel less like a serious competition and more like an event. Curry and James going head to head is already a draw. Throw Hart in as the wild card and you’ve got something people would actually pay to watch.
The timing of all this matters because LeBron James is currently a free agent. Everyone’s speculating about where he’ll land. The Heat and Cavaliers are the frontrunners according to reports, but fans keep dreaming about James joining Curry in Golden State. That fantasy has been alive for years, and it’s not dying yet.

LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul, joked on his podcast with Max Kellerman about what the NBA would have to do if James actually signed with the Warriors. “The NBA would have to give them 60 nationally televised games. I’m being sarcastic, but at least half,” Paul said. “With Steph, Klay and Dray, and then when it was LeBron, Kyrie, K. Love, I think between those two teams, they might have had 30 each nationally televised games. I could be wrong, but we should look it up.”
It was clearly a joke, but it also shows how big that story would be. A Curry-James partnership on the court might never happen. A Curry-James golf match, though? That feels a lot more realistic. And based on Curry’s comments, he’s ready to tee it up.
James hasn’t responded publicly to the challenge yet. Maybe he’s thinking about it. Maybe he’s too busy figuring out where he’s playing basketball next season. But if Curry keeps talking, eventually someone’s going to have to answer.
