Real Madrid Eyes Felix Nmecha — But Dortmund’s €120 Million Sticker Price Could End the Chase Before It Starts

Borussia Dortmund has placed a massive price tag on midfielder Felix Nmecha, and it’s enough to make even Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United think twice. According to German outlet Bild, Dortmund would demand at least €120 million to even consider selling the 24-year-old this summer.

Nmecha signed a contract extension with the Black and Yellows just a few months ago, tying him to the club through 2030. That deal effectively removed any urgency for Dortmund to move him, even as interest from European heavyweights continues to swirl. Real Madrid has reportedly entered the race alongside the two Premier League giants, but the math doesn’t look friendly for any suitor right now.

Wait, There’s a Release Clause — But It’s Not Active Yet

Both Bild and Sky Germany report that Nmecha does have a release clause in his new deal. But it won’t kick in until 2027. The two outlets disagree on the exact figure — Bild says €80 million, while Sky puts it at €70 million — but the timing makes it irrelevant for clubs hoping to sign him this window. Dortmund holds all the leverage, and they’re not shy about using it.

The German international’s value only went up after his standout performance in Germany’s 7-1 World Cup opening win over Curaçao. Nmecha was sharp in midfield, showing the two-way play that has made him one of Europe’s most intriguing young midfielders. That kind of showing on the world stage doesn’t make Dortmund any more willing to negotiate.

What This Means for the Clubs Involved

For Real Madrid, a €120 million price tag on a player who still has room to develop but hasn’t yet proven himself at the highest level in a top league is a tough sell — especially with other midfield targets potentially available for less. Manchester City and Manchester United face similar math. United has prioritized other positions this window, and City’s midfield depth makes a nine-figure splash unlikely unless they move someone first.

None of the clubs have commented publicly on Nmecha, and Dortmund has not confirmed that any formal offers have arrived. But the speculation alone shows how quickly his stock has risen.

For now, Nmecha remains in Dortmund, and anyone hoping to pry him loose will need to break the bank — or wait until 2027.
