Premier League Reshuffles August and September: Liverpool–Nottingham Forest Moves to Friday Night

The Premier League just dropped its first batch of fixture changes for the 2026/27 season, and if you’ve already made plans around the original schedule, you might want to check your calendar again. A bunch of games got bumped to different days or times, mostly because of TV picks and European competition scheduling.

The most notable shift? Liverpool hosting Nottingham Forest now kicks off Friday, August 29 at 12:30 p.m. ET on TNT Sports. That’s a tidy early-afternoon slot for U.S. viewers, but a headache for anyone who booked a weekend trip around a Saturday match. Also moving: Spurs versus Newcastle, which slides to Saturday the 30th at 5:30 p.m. on Sky Sports.

Sunday and Monday adjustments

Sunday, August 30 is stacked. Chelsea vs Brighton gets a 2:00 p.m. kickoff on Sky Sports, partly because Brighton plays a UEFA Conference League playoff the Thursday before. That same afternoon, Leeds hosts Brentford and Sunderland faces Fulham — both also on Sky Sports at 2:00 p.m. Then Man United vs Ipswich closes Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Monday, August 31 brings Aston Villa vs Arsenal at 8:00 p.m. on Sky Sports. Not a bad way to end the month.

September shuffle

Friday, September 4 has Ipswich vs Liverpool at 8:00 p.m. on Sky Sports. The next day, Saturday the 5th, features a full slate including Newcastle vs Bournemouth at 12:30 p.m. on TNT Sports and Hull City vs Aston Villa at 5:30 p.m. on Sky Sports.

September 12 is another big one. Sunderland vs Arsenal got bumped to 8:00 p.m. on TNT Sports. And a weird wrinkle: Leeds vs Newcastle on Monday, September 14 could revert to Saturday the 12th at 12:30 p.m. if either club reaches the EFL Cup third round and is scheduled against a Champions League participant. The league is leaving that one as a placeholder for now.

Same conditional logic applies to Brentford vs Chelsea, originally set for Friday, September 18 at 8:00 p.m. on Sky Sports. If either team makes the EFL Cup third round and faces a Champions League club, that one slides to Saturday the 19th at 8:00 p.m.

The full weekend of September 19-20

Saturday the 19th is loaded. Spurs vs Aston Villa at 12:30 p.m. on TNT Sports, then Brighton vs Arsenal, Everton vs Ipswich, Leeds vs Crystal Palace, Man City vs Sunderland, and Newcastle vs Hull City all kick off at the same time (no TV for most of those). Nottingham Forest vs Coventry City wraps Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on Sky Sports.

Sunday the 20th gives us Bournemouth vs Liverpool at 2:00 p.m. on Sky Sports, then Fulham vs Man United at 4:30 p.m.

The league hasn’t confirmed any further rounds of changes yet, but with European competition and cup schedules still shaking out, more moves are almost guaranteed. For now, set your DVR accordingly.
