Weaver has been consistent in that setup role for a few years now. He did solid work for the Yankees in 2024 and 2025 before moving over to the Mets, and he hasn’t lost a step.

The Phillies would love to add him. But the price tag might be steep.

Nightengale made it clear: the asking price for Weaver could be high. And it’s not just because he’s good. It’s because there aren’t many sellers this year. In the National League, only four teams are four or more games out of a playoff spot. In the American League, it’s just three. That’s a thin market. When supply is low, prices climb. And teams that are desperate for bullpen help — like the Phillies — could end up paying more than they want.

Weaver isn’t just a rental either. He’s under control beyond this season, which only drives up his value. The Mets can afford to wait for the right offer.

Keller’s injury is a tough break for Philadelphia. He was having a solid year: 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA across 32 games, plus three saves and 13 holds. But the torn UCL is a serious injury. If he needs surgery, he could miss time in 2027 too. That makes the need even more urgent.
