One Trade Proposal That Could Bring Jo Adell to the Phillies This Summer

The Phillies need outfield help. That’s not a secret. With Adolis Garcia out for the year and the team sitting at 48-38, the front office is going to be aggressive ahead of the trade deadline. And one name that keeps popping up is Jo Adell.

Adell plays for the Angels. He’s a guy you probably know for his defense, but he also swings a pretty big bat. In 2026 he’s hitting .249 with 11 homers and 45 RBIs. That’s not eye-popping until you remember he crushed 37 home runs and drove in 98 runs last season. So the power is real, and the Phillies could use some of it.

The folks at GM Territory put together a mock trade that would send Adell to Philadelphia. Here’s what they think it would take.

The proposed package for Jo Adell

The headliner would be Dante Nori. He’s ranked as the fifth-best prospect in the Phillies system by MLB Pipeline. This season at Triple-A he’s hit .245 with two homers, 20 RBIs and 12 steals over 52 games. He’s an outfielder. He’s not tearing it up, but he’s close to major league ready.

Then there’s Ramon Marquez, the ninth-ranked prospect. He’s a right-handed pitcher who’s put up a 2.08 ERA across eight appearances between Low-A and High-A this season. His strikeout-to-walk ratio is 58-to-15. That’s promising.

Rounding out the deal would be Gabe Craig, ranked 23rd in the system. He’s also a righty, also in Single-A. Through 24 games his ERA sits at 3.04 with a 39-to-13 K/BB ratio.

Three prospects for one outfielder. It’s not nothing. But Adell isn’t some rental either. He’s under team control and still only 27 years old.

Why the Phillies make sense as a destination

Philadelphia ranks 15th in runs scored with 383. That’s middling. Even with Kyle Schwarber in the lineup, the offense hasn’t clicked the way they hoped. The Angels have actually scored five more runs than the Phillies this season. So the need is real.

The outfield situation got worse when Garcia went down for the year. That leaves a hole the front office has to fill if they want to make a serious playoff push. Adell would slide in and give them a right-handed bat with pop and solid defense.

Of course this all depends on whether the Angels are willing to sell. They’ve been hovering around .500 for a while now. If they decide to retool, Adell becomes available. And if he does, expect the Phillies to be in that conversation.

Whether this mock trade actually happens is anybody’s guess. But it gives you a sense of what the price tag might look like. Three prospects, one of them close to the big leagues, for a guy who could change the look of Philadelphia’s lineup down the stretch.
